What the Statute of Liberty Means to Me

Alexis Malooley – 1963

Alexis Malooley receives publication honor in 1963. It was the first time that a Spring Valley pupil was so honored. Alexis, who wrote her poem while in the 5th grade, is the daughter of Ed and Sadie Malooley. Alexis currently lives with her husband Mark Turner in Raleigh, NC. She has two sons Ryan and Matthew Fulkerson. Ryan is married to Jenny and together they have two children Liam, 10, and Sadie Estelle, 8. Matthew is married to Cara and together they have three children Aiden, 7, and twins Madelyn and Caitlyn, 5.
